Author of over 180 research papers in the fields of neutron
scattering and computer modelling. Over 100 invited talks, seminars
etc. Specialises in studies of the structures (including magnetic
structures) of all types of disordered materials, from high
temperature superconductors to liquid metal alloys. Has a special
interest in software development. Developer of the reverse Monte
Carlo (RMC) method of structural modelling.
Active in the promotion of neutron scattering within Europe and
worldwide. Member of the European Spallation Source Science
Advisory Committee (1995-6, 1999-2002). Member of the US Spallation
Neutron Source review committee (2003-). Coordinator of the EU
SCANS project (1999-2003). Coordinator of the Integrated
Infrastructure Initiative for Neutron Scattering and Muon
Spectroscopy (2004-2008).
